The Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center's official page routes its “Search Inmate Information” link to VINELink. That makes VINELink the county's public, person-specific custody entry point. The sheriff does not publish a separate county roster, released-person archive, or guaranteed 24-hour or 72-hour list. Search results depend on the participating agency and its latest report.
VINELink can report a custody status, location or agency, identifier, and notification choice when those fields are supplied. A released or custody-change event means the contributing agency recorded that event. It does not prove the person is free of MODOC, BOP, USMS, ICE, another jail, or a detainer. Ste. Genevieve's mixed local, state, federal, mental-health, and immigration population makes that distinction unusually important.

VINELink does not guarantee a release reason, exact exit time, photograph, destination, or long-term result retention. A custody change may be a transfer. Pair the event with the detention center movement record and Case.net docket. For a Missouri prisoner, use MODOC. Its active locator includes prisoners, probationers, and parolees but excludes discharged offenders; the historical Sunshine file is the fallback.
Register Ste. Genevieve Release Alerts
Registration starts from the matched record. Current VINE materials support phone, text, email, in-app, and TTY channels, but the options offered can vary. Review all identifiers before attaching an alert to the record.

- Enter a phone number and/or email address.
- Create a four-digit PIN for phone calls.

Ste. Genevieve VINELink Limits
VINELink is not the BOP historical locator. For a sentenced federal prisoner, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A result that says “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” means BOP no longer holds the person, not that no supervised release, state case, or immigration custody remains. USMS pretrial cases require the federal court docket, county movement record, and USMS records route.
For ICE, use the official detainee locator and the ICE Ste. Genevieve facility page. ICE says its locator includes current detainees and people released from ICE custody during the preceding 60 days. A later disappearance proves neither community release nor removal. EOIR court status describes proceedings, not physical custody.
Limit: Data can lag, and leaving the Ste. Genevieve building may be transfer rather than release to the community.
County confirmation comes from the jail movement or release record. Court authority comes from Case.net. State-prison status comes from MODOC, with the nightly historical file when a discharged person is absent. Each channel verifies a different part of the event.
Ste. Genevieve VINELink Versus MOVANS
Ste. Genevieve has two related notification layers. The county detention page points the public to VINELink for a person-specific inmate-information search. MODOC's Missouri Victim Automated Notification System, called MOVANS, is a separate enrollment path for registered crime victims seeking MODOC custody location, hearing, and scheduled-release information.
A public VINELink registration should not be described as automatic MOVANS enrollment. MODOC directs MOVANS enrollment through its Office of Victim Services at 573-526-6516. That office can address state-prison custody, parole-hearing participation, and authorized decision notices. County-jail status remains tied to the county's reporting channel.

Use the layer that owns the event. VINELink can flag a county custody change. MOVANS covers eligible MODOC notices after enrollment. The Board or institutional parole office confirms a specific state release date. No notification alone replaces the source record.
Ste. Genevieve Release Cross-Checks
Case.net can show bond, dismissal, judgment, probation, commitment, or warrant entries in Missouri's 24th Judicial Circuit. Those entries explain legal authority but not the exact jail out-processing time. Use the case number when possible, then ask for the facility movement record.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry is purpose-limited. It covers only people with a registration duty. Labels such as pending registration, incarcerated, or moved out of state may help explain a transition but do not supply an exact Ste. Genevieve release timestamp. It is not a general released-inmate index.
A former county detainee can personally request a Letter of Incarceration by mail with a self-addressed stamped envelope. The active MODOC search needs its own caution. It finds active offenders, including probationers and parolees, and does not provide information on discharged offenders. A person released from prison to supervision may remain visible, while a fully discharged person may vanish. If VINELink shows a transfer, follow the destination rather than calling it release to the community. MODOC transfers belong in the state active search. A sentenced federal transfer belongs in the BOP locator. An ICE event belongs in the ICE locator and facility channel. A USMS movement may require the federal docket and records request because there is no comparable public USMS history search.

Notification delivery also differs from record accuracy. Review the registration confirmation and keep more than one offered channel when practical.
